1. Who we are

We are DSPT – Associação Portuguesa de Ciência de Dados (“we”, “us” and “our”), a non-profit association registered in Portugal, whose registered office is at Edifício Central, Rua Alfredo Allen, n.º455/461, 4200-135 Porto. We organise the Conference DSPT Day 2019 (“Conference”).

2. Attendance Requirements

2.1 Minimum Age

You must be at least the age of 18 to attend the Conference.

3. Tickets

3.1 Registration Policy

By completing the hard copy registration form or our online registration, you are accepting our terms and conditions.

Only fully completed registration forms will be accepted. An invoice will be sent after the receipt of your registration, a confirmation of payment will be sent upon receipt of payment in full. If the full payment has not been received before the deadline indicated, the registration will remain valid, however the due fee will be increased according to the payment period (early/normal/late).

To be able to register as a student, individuals must present proof of full or part time enrolment at a recognised university or college or an according programme (i.e. student ID, confirmation of head of department, etc.) during the on-site check-in process at the Conference.

All tickets must be assigned to one participant, and all participant details must be complete, including first name, last name, email, phone number and other profile details.

It is possible to change the ticket details until the day before the event, however, we cannot guarantee that we can provide the selected t-shirt size.

3.2 What is included

The conference ticket gives access to:

  • On October 25 – the first conference day – some activities and coffee-break during the afternoon.
  • On October 26, all conference sessions, the exhibition area, the networking event, the opening session and the closing session, provided that sufficient seating space is available in the auditorium 1. We do not guarantee available space on the parallel session in auditorium 2.

In order to attend the workshops you need to buy the conference ticket and the workshop ticket.

3.3 Invoice

If you need an invoice you should send us a request via email to finance@datascienceportugal.com with the following information: full name, address, VAT and proof of purchase. Please note that, the invoice can be issued up to 30 days after the request.

3.4 Refund

You are eligible to cancel your purchase of a ticket up until October 10, 2019 without giving any reason. To receive a reimbursement of payments, you need to notify us in writing of your decision to cancel your ticket to dsptday@datascienceportugal.com. The refund will be made in the same form as the original payment was received (for example, a credit card payment will refund to same credit card account number). You acknowledge that all refunds are subject to deduction of a maximum of €10 in administration fees.

4. Image Usage

You consent to:

  1. us (or someone on our behalf) or our partners taking photographs, and making audio and video recordings of you at the Conference (“Recordings”);
  2. us sharing the Recordings to promote the Conference in any manner we see fit.

You understand and agree that we own all rights (including copyright and other intellectual property rights) to the Recordings.

You understand that:

  1. we are under no obligation to use, or pay you for the use of, the Recordings;
  2. you will have no right of approval, no claim for compensation, and no claim (including, claims based on invasion of privacy, defamation or right of publicity), arising out of, directly or indirectly, from the use and publication of the Recordings.

5. Recording

Any use of professional photographic, audio, video or other recording equipment at the Conference is strictly prohibited, unless it is approved by us in writing in advance.

6. Code of Conduct

We reserve the right to sanction or expel any Conference participant who violate the code of conduct.

7. Cancellation of the Conference

In the event that the Conference cannot be held or is postponed due to events beyond our control (force majeure) or due to events which are not attributable to wrongful intent or gross negligence to us, we  cannot be held liable by delegates for any damages, costs, or losses incurred, such as transportation costs, accommodation costs, costs for additional orders, financial losses, etc.

Under these circumstances, we reserve the right to reimburse the participants after deducting costs already incurred for the organisation of the Conference and which could not be recovered from third parties.

8. Modification of the Programme

We reserve the right to modify the programme. No refunds can be granted in case of cancellation of speakers or any other incidents during the Conference which are beyond our control.

9. Conference Code of Conduct

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualised images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualised clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualised environment.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the conference organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. Conference staff can be identified as they’ll be wearing branded clothing and/or badges.

Conference staff will be happy to help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance.

We expect participants to follow these rules at conference and conference-related social events.

These terms and conditions are subject to change without notice to you, so we recommend that you review them regularly on this website.
